General privacy statement
This Privacy Policy applies to the provision of information to Hope Healthcare and as well information that may be gathered through the use of the pages on the Hope Healthcare websites. Hope Healthcare does not have any responsibility for the privacy policies or practices of third party sites that may be linked to our sites.
Users of the Hope Healthcare websites are entitled to expect that any information as a result of that use will be respected and treated within the terms of best ethical practices and legislated privacy responsibilities and obligations. We are regulated by the New South Wales Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1988 and for patient records, we comply with our obligations under the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002.
Policy currency
Due to the developing nature of privacy principles for online communication, this policy may be modified or expanded in light of new developments or issues that may arise from time to time. The amended policy will be posted to this site and will operate from the time it is posted.
Use of our websites
When you look at the pages on Hope Healthcare websites, the servers automatically record information that identifies, the IP (Internet Protocol) address of the machine which has accessed it; the top-level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .edu, .au, .uk etc.); the address of the server; the date and time of the visit to the site; the pages accessed and documents downloaded; the type of browser and operating system used. This information is unable to be retained once the user session has ceased.
The information collected during each visit is aggregated with similar logged information and is used to assist identify usage of the site and enable us to improve our websites and the services offered.
We provide a feedback facility on our website to allow users to provide input into the future development of the site and to comment on the provision of services by Hope Healthcare. The provision of personal details on feedback is optional. Users may provide personal details for the purpose of receiving a reply to their feedback. This information will only be used for the purpose for which it was provided. We will not add your email address or name to any mailing list.
Employment
Information provided in position applications to Hope Healthcare by users accessing the employment component of our websites, is held in strictest confidence, and can only be accessed by authorised recruitment personnel. Authorised recruiters may only access application information related to the positions they are recruiting.
Donors
Hope Healthcare is committed to ensuring that the information donors provide to us remains secure and that you as a donor are aware of what information is held and your rights.
Information you provide
When you become a donor you are generally asked to provide us with your name and contact details. We take very seriously the need to keep all information we hold on you secure, so all written materials containing your details are stored in secure areas and computer records can only be accessed by authorised staff. We are also members of the Fundraising Institute of Australia and operate in accordance with the Institute’s Code of Conduct.
Hope Healthcare takes responsible steps to ensure the personal information you have given us is accurate, complete and up-to-date. How we use information
Hope Healthcare uses the information you give to us for the purposes of processing donations, fundraising and keeping a record of the history of donations from our donors.
When we write to you seeking your support we are trying to raise public awareness of our programs and their needs. This is why we often send information on particular areas of need.
Please remember, however, that you are under no obligation to respond unless you are able to or you would like to. If you want, you can also ask us to not contact you any more.
We may use the information for analysis and may also use it to produce certain consolidated statistics about our donors. Sometimes we will also use consultants to provide us with expert advice on research and analysis. We may also use third party providers, such as fundraising consultants, as they may provide specialist services that we cannot undertake. We will only use consultants who have proper privacy protection practices. We will not otherwise disclose your individual information or sell, trade or rent that information for any purpose.
Receipts
When you send a donation and give your name and contact details we will send you a receipt for taxation purposes. If, however, you make a donation without providing your name and contact details then we will not be able to do this.
