Our Staff

Hope Healthcare is a specialised public health organisation within the NSW public health system.  Originally established by a group of caring Christians in 1907 as a hospice for the terminally ill, we have grown and developed clinical expertise over the past hundred years in palliative care, rehabilitation, psychogeriatric care, and aged & community services, while retaining our Christian values and ethos.

We employ a wide range of professional, compassionate and skilled people with a variety of experiences in health & community care, and in health services management.

Hope Healthcare provides opportunities for further education and training for staff development and involvement in evidence based research. We encourage and reward excellence, innovation and service improvements from all staff, and our culture of caring and compassion make for the provision of quality patient care in a positive working environment.  Support for staff is provided through regular supervision sessions, networking and regular contact with senior staff.

We employ approximately 600 staff in five facilities across Sydney.  Listed below are the major professional groups.  For further information on career opportunities in these groups, please click on the profession of interest to you below.

Allied Health professional groups

Our allied health staff provide a wide range of high quality care for rehabilitation, palliative care and aged care psychiatry clients. The staff are seen as an integral part of our holistic patient care by professional, multidisciplinary teams environment on our wards, in outpatient departments, day hospitals and within the community.  We also have career development opportunities that include a senior manager of allied health, department/discipline heads, deputy department heads, and senior practitioners.

Opportunities are available to gain experience in the specialist areas of palliative care, aged care psychiatry and rehabilitation, including amputees, neurology and orthopaedics.

Specific allied health employment groups include: Dietetics & Nutrition; Diversional/Music Therapy; Occupational Therapy; Physiotherapy; Psychology; Social Work; Speech Pathology and Technical Assistants.

Bullet Community & Aged Services

Our community services department provides a range of community care and respite packages for care in the community. Roles include Caseworkers; Case Managers; Team Leaders and a senior manager who leads and overseas the community services portfolio.

Our hospitals and community services could not function without the support of Corporate Support services.  The main departments and roles within our support services are listed below.

Administration and clerical services

Our Administration and Clerical services provide a variety of administration roles that keep the organisation working effectively and efficiently.  These roles include administration support for each of our disciplines, including ward clerks, executive secretaries, an executive assistant, and administration staff who support the work of each department and unit.  We also employ ward assistants to help with general duties on the hospital wards.

Asset Maintenance services

Our Asset Maintenance roles ensure the facilities are continually improved and well maintained to create and maintain a safe and functional work environment.  We employ general maintenance workers and an electrician, a manager of Asset & Transport services and a Director who leads and oversees asset management and transport services, as well as the organisation’s strategic planning agenda.

Driver / Transport services

Our driver / transport service provides transport for patients, clients and food services. We also employ transport coordinators to coordinate the service and a manager who oversees the transport and asset maintenance services.

Executive management

The senior management team of Hope Healthcare provides leadership and management for the whole organisation. The team comprises the CEO and Directors of services in nursing; medical; community services; strategy and asset management; finance; human resources; and hospitality services.

Finance services

Our Finance team comprises a range of financial staff, including; accounts payable; accounts receivable; purchasing; financial accounting; management accounting; and a Finance Director, who is also responsible to lead and oversee our information technology services.

Fundraising & Public Relations

Although Hope Healthcare is mostly publicly funded, the generosity of donors ensures we can keep making service and facility improvements for the quality care and comfort of patients, their families and friends.  Fundraising is undertaken by a Fundraising Coordinator, and is overseen by the PR Manager.

Hospitality & Domestic Services

Our hospitality services roles include food and domestic services staff. Our food services provide quality, nutritious food to our patients and staff, while our domestic services teams keep our facilities clean and tidy as the front line defence in infection control.  Staff regularly rotate duties through the different areas for improved variety and job satisfaction.  Roles include  administration/clerical roles; catering / food services; cleaning / waste management; and laundry services.  Besides direct workers in these roles, we employ catering & domestic services managers and a Director to lead and oversee the portfolio.

Human Resources

Hope Healthcare aspires, and consistently endeavours, to make the mantra ‘our people are our most important asset’, a reality.  Rather than words on a page, we want our values to translate into everything we do.  Our human resources service is central to helping create a culture of excellence: Payroll services; Workforce Development (education & training, including nurse and corporate education); and all generalist HR functions led and overseen by a Director of HR.

Information Technology

Our IT and telecommunications staff run the day to day IT and telecommunications support operations, and assist the Area Health Services with IT system implementations.  This team comprises a manager of IT, and an IT officer.

OH&S / Quality

OH&S and quality are integral to what we do in ensuing excellence in care within a safe and secure work environment. Our OH&S / Quality team coordinates OH&S and quality systems and processes and is overseen by a manager and two OH&S/quality officers.

Public Relations / Fundraising

Our public relations unit comprises a manager of PR and a Fundraising Coordinator.  The PR Manager oversees corporate communications, media liaison, publications, marketing and branding.

Bullet Chaplaincy & Pastoral Care

As a Christian organisation we ensure the care we provide is holistic, ministering to people’s physical, mental, emotional, psychological, practical and spiritual needs.  A critical and central part of our care is to provide spiritual care to our patients and clients. By listening, supporting, praying, guiding and sharing the truths about Jesus Christ, our Chaplains and Pastoral Care Workers share the love of God with all people in the care of Hope Healthcare.  We employ a manager/Chaplain to lead the team which comprises Chaplains and Pastoral Care workers.

Bullet Medical

Our medical services employs fully qualified, accredited doctors who provide excellent medical care of patients and clients.  We have a range of medical and pharmacy professionals for palliative care, rehabilitation, and psyhogeriatric care that include medical officers; residents, registrars, pharmacists; staff specialists, senior staff specialists, directors of services and a Director of Medical & Allied Health to lead and oversee  the services.

Bullet Nursing

Central to all we do, our nurses form the core care provider group in our organisation and are integral members of our multidisciplinary teams.  Our services and specialisations provide opportunities for nurses to work and develop expertise in the fields of palliative care, rehabilitation and aged care psychiatry nursing.

Nursing services include a wide range of professional nurse groups, including AINs, TENs, EENs, RNs, Nurse Educators, CNEs, CNSs, CNCs, NUMs, NMs, a DDON and a DON who leads and overseas the nursing services.
