About Us
Hope Healthcare had its beginnings in 1907, with a group of caring Christians who were committed to providing care for the terminally ill, by opening ‘Eversleigh Home of Peace for the Dying' in Petersham, in Sydney’s inner west. Over the following 100 years, we grew and developed to become a specialised provider of palliative care, rehabilitation and aged care psychiatry services.
Today, Hope Healthcare comprises Neringah, Greenwich and Braeside Hospitals, Graythwaite Nursing Home, the Tom O’Neill Centre, the Northern Beaches Palliative Care Service and a range of Community and Aged Services. Working together, our paid and volunteer staff provide a range of public health and community care for people in Sydney’s north, west and south west.
Hope Healthcare is an Affiliated Health Organisation listed at Schedule 3 of the Health Services Act 1997. Our facilities are Recognised Health Establishments that operate as part of the public health care system, and work in close cooperation with the area health services in which we operate. We are funded by the NSW Department of Health, the Commonwealth Government and through charitable donations and bequests.
Previously owned as a ministry of the Anglican Deaconesses’ Institute Sydney Limited, Hope Healthcare became a wholly owned subsidiary of Hammond Care on 1 July 2008.
Our Mission, Purpose and Values are framed within a Christian ethos.
Our Mission is to demonstrate the caring love of Jesus Christ to those in need of care and support, by providing quality services that reflect the Christian values of unconditional love and compassion for every person.
Our Purpose is to specialise in the delivery of high quality care and support services which are consumer focused, efficient and effective, outcome driven, research and teaching based, provided in optimal environments and sustained and supported on a long-term basis.
Our Values are compassion, respect, excellence, justice, unity and accountability.
