A public health and community network with special care reflecting Christian Values

Hope Healthcare encompasses the facilities Neringah Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, Graythwaite Nursing Home, Tom O'Neill Centre and Northern Beaches Palliative Care Service in Sydney’s north and Braeside Hospital in Sydney’s southwest.  In addition, we have a growing range of services delivered into the community.  All our services are public and draw together a philosophy of care and expertise gathered in caring for the sick since 1907, as a ministry of the Anglican Deaconess Institution Sydney.

Quality of life is paramount through care reflecting values of unconditional love and respect.

People are both our focus and our most precious resource.  Common to all our services is a team approach to caring, bringing together the skills of many health care disciplines, providing a valuable extra dimension truly effective health services should have.

Hope Healthcare offers a mixed range of specialist services meeting diverse health needs.

Our palliative care services help incurably ill people benefit from the best potential quality of life, while our rehabilitation services help people afflicted by stroke and disabling illness return to as full and independent a life as possible.  Our mental health care for the aged extends beyond nursing home care for those with dementia, to include levels of care for those acutely affected by depression and other psychiatric illnesses.  Our community and aged services complement and enhance the care we offer in our other key services with the aim of  providing seamless health care.

Working with the support of the community

Hope Healthcare participates with Area Health Services of NSW Health in the provision of our specialised services.  While our main operational funding comes from NSW Health, we rely on individual donations, bequests and the support of the community to help us provide the best quality of life for those in our care.  (To learn more, Click Here to go to our Donations and Bequests page.)

Through this financial support we are able to add to the comfort and quality of life of the many people who have traumatic illness or injury and require our care and to provide equipment and additional services like pastoral care and bereavement counselling.  Without this support we are unable to extend our care.

We depend on the assistance of our Volunteers who make up an important part of the team supporting our delivery of care.  (To learn more Click Here to go to our Volunteers page.)

We support the establishment of viable 'Friends' networks to assist us with our work.
